Mrs. Putin
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is running for Congress in the second district of Pampanga.
Randy David (who is not making good on his threat to run against her) says she will use the vast resources accumulated over her term as president to buy control of the Lower House and make herself Speaker. Being speaker is a way to protect herself against prosecution by an unfriendly administration and to continue to wield influence over national politics.
Imagine a Lower House under the control of Arroyo. The threat of impeachment against an unfriendly government should be enough to stop an investigation of her (alleged) wrongdoing. A Lower House under Arroyo could also presumably move to revise the Constitution to engineer a shift to a parliamentary form of government. Does that sound far out? History shows us that its not as unlikely as it looks.
Jose P. Laurel was president under the second republic under the Japanese occupation. After the war, Laurel became a senator. In the United States, John Quincy Adams became a congressman after losing a bid to be reelected president. And in Russia, Vladimir Putin was prevented by the constitution from seeking another term as president, so he made himself prime minister and engineered the election of Dmitri Medyedev as a malleable president. There is little doubt that it is Putin who calls the shots in Russia today.
Perhaps what we are seeing today is an attempt to replicate the Russian model. Of course it won’t be exactly the same. Chances are Noynoy Aquino will become president in a fair election and he won’t agree to play the Medyedev role of puppet president, so Arroyo will have to find a way to outmaneuver him.
Like Fidel Ramos, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is not willing to fade away. But unlike Ramos she has the balls to do what it takes to remain a player on the national stage even after she gives up the presidency. Assuming she give it up. Given how all the worst case assumptions of her critics seem to be materializing, I wouldn’t be surprised if when the smoke clears, Arroyo will be the last one standing. Just like Vladimir Putin.

No body really believed that Randy David will run against GMA. As I’ve said before, Randy is a theorist, and his credibility is not even half of GMA’s. GMA gets things done (for her at least)! On hindsight, Randy seems to have been a GMA strategist. What he was “espousing” on his articles is now happening, insofar as GMA’s career path is concerned.
No matter what we guys express from now on will no longer matter. It’s now time to act and make things happen. What this country needs now are people of action and not writers and theorists.
Active voters who care for this country should now ensure that they get to know who their national candidates & local representatives are. I have begun creating my blacklisting and whitelisting of candidates. And I’m doing my own campaigning within my own area of influence to vote straight Noy & Mar ticket, national and local, regardless. Word of mouth still remains as a strong “marketing tool” for promotion. And yes, even during the “campaign ban” period you cna do it. Who can ever stop a “word of mouth” campaign. My family is now solid! Now working within our neighborhood. So far, so good!
This is the least I can “DO” for my country, and not just write or talk about it.
God save this country from tyranny and tyrants!

Dont worry about Randy David. He may have
sold himself. If you are committed in your
cause. You wont back down.
Gloria Arroyo does not look like Vladimir
Putin of Russia. However, she immitated Putin’s move. We cannot speculate what she
has in her mind. But, it is a real serious
threat to the political stability of the country. We are now becoming another Russia.

“GLORIA:”Fool us once, shame on you! Fool us twice, thrice, countless times, shame on us !””
Shame on us countless times na nga, e. So, insult to injury na rin. Long live Congresswoman Gloria!

We deserve the government we get.
Let her run. It looks like there is no legal impediment for her to run. She will definitely win. But we have to pity her provincemates for not “seeing the light.”
We need to make sure she will be in an opposition as tiny as she is…meaning, Filipinos must make sure her cohorts do not return to congress…so that she will experience being a helpless voice in the wilderness…so that she will also experience not having her porkbarrel fund released…so that she will finally realize that there is a God (not her)…and our good God will bring us justice.

This is a critical period for the Pampanguenos.
They vote her into office and if ever she becomes Prime Minister, they will be responsible for dragging the whole nation back again into more corruption, more warlordism, more jueteng lords, more smuggling lords, more POVERTY.
One lone district could stop her. One lone district could perpetrate her. One lone district could bring the whole nation down.
December 1st, 2009 10:18
It is time for the opposition to realize and unite all their forces against all of Gloria’s candidates.
Focus , focus, focus to prevent these candidates from ever getting the Presidential, House or Senate seats.
The voters must be educated and informed repeatedly who Gloria’s candidates and secret allies are.
No doubt, Gibo’s party and Villar’s party are supporters. And she has planted and will fund others less well known.
Ang talino. Ang galing.
December 1st, 2009 10:29
If GMA wins the congressional seat in Pampanga, then those from the 2nd district are somewhat responsible for putting her back in power! She should just rest from public office 1st and face the accusations regarding the incoming flood of charges of graft and corruption that she will face once she steps down as President. She should face these corruption charges before going back to public office!
When she runs for congress, there is no question about it that she will use all the resources of Malacanang in her campaign! She has no honor nor shame and those kapampangans are responsible if she does win her congressional seat that she has lobbied for since last year (just look at the number of times she has “helped” her fellow kapampangans!).

Phil, You are so right..
One lone district could stop her. One lone district could perpetrate her. One lone district could bring the whole nation down.
Good luck to us.

Reminds me of the film, “A Few Good Men” played by Tom Cruise. There was this ending dialogue when he said something like: “You don’t need a badge to have honor!”
Considering the recent filing of COCs, many under the guise of wanting to “serve their country” or that “God had chosen them to lead,” etc. are really opportunists and power-power hungry tyrants just intrested in their own agenda.
These are people whose only concern is to put the word “HONORABLE” before their names to be able to “serve?” These bunch are just people who would like to use and manipulate people to their own advantage.
The likes of Jesus and Gandhi, and many others, did not require positions/titles to serve and offer their lives to people they truly love.
Its very clear, Brothers/Sisters, this is a continuous “battle between good and evil” in our society.
Let’s not lose sight that they are not really in control. Someone else WAS/IS/WILL BE in control! And you can bet on it!
Our country, and the entire world, is still worth loving and people worth dying for!
The spontaneity of events such as EDSA I and the overwhelming people support during Cory’s funeral cortege strongly demonstrates the real POWER in control.
Mabuhay ang Filipino!

GMA has the galls, and Devid has no balls! All he had was an audacious dare, and it remained that way—an audacious dare. He knew he’s got nothing—nothing—to defeat La Gloria. Is he still looking for excuses? If you can’t put up, just shut up!!!
December 1st, 2009 14:23
Had Randy David run, it would have been a classic David and Gloriath battle.
We needed this David. But decisions such as Randy made is not for him alone to make. One’s family have a great say on such things.
But he can continue the fight as a campaigner for whoever will do battle with the Gloriath.
December 1st, 2009 15:56
the president picks the speaker, and no one, even Villar, even Teodoro, would not pick her.
the best she can hope for is she will be minority leader bcuz most of the palaka will just become LP or NP depending on who wins. Brother Eddie might win; he has enough sheep in a multi candidate race to get the most votes. parties mean nothing anyway. she might even win one impeachment vote-only takes 1/3; but the senate will vote not guilty.
Putin has popularity, he would win today. she is hated.
December 1st, 2009 16:27
gloria is a firm believer in justice.
she knew it exist. and being there, it will haunt her. she will be made to account.
but she is also evil. so she will do anything to prevent it from reaching her. her pathetic act of running for congress is her way preventing her upcoming political irrelevance.
the mass exodus away from her has began.
soon it will be complete. except for a few sycophants, she will be alone.
already she is frying.
December 1st, 2009 17:59
Phil,
Perhaps, in dreams, it would have been a classic battle between (Randy) David and Gloriath. In dreams. Once, David had this Quixotic and audacious dream—but, unfortunately for all of us, it shall remain as such. Our David would rather save face than face defeat. He knows it; his family knows it; his neighbors know it. Forget the excuses.
Chris,
The speaker of the House is elected, usually by seniority, by the majority of the representatives. The president may have a hand in the selection process if his party gets to control the House.
December 1st, 2009 20:24
Loud mouth. That’s what Randy David is and to GMA’s (political) enemies.
Should GMA’s foes kept mum on their plan in getting back at her than making it public, she couldn’t have made a defensive stance.
Now, IF Noynoy wins the Presidency and La Gloria wins the Speakership, she will be Noynoy’s worst nightmare.
I bet she is smarter than him even with LP stalwarts around.
December 1st, 2009 22:40
WTF is wrong with the supreme court??? They junked the comelec ban of incumbent officials from filing COCs. Those 8 judges should be sent to Maguindanao.
December 1st, 2009 22:41
its not one lone district, it takes 126 or so to elect her speaker. it would take both the senate and the house for conass. without a cooperative president impossible.
December 1st, 2009 22:55
This is a big joke! We deserve something better… It’s all up to the voters! The Arroyos and their collaborators should be persecuted for the wrongdoings they have done in our beloved country.
It’s tiring and discouraging! This system has only been beneficial to the ones in power, time to change things and move towards a better Philippines!
December 2nd, 2009 00:15
Putin had make a good turn around on economic of Russia to speak of. How about Gloria administration. ,no impressive economic data at all except for 4 groups GSIS, MVP, San Miguel, and Ashmore which are like PACman, scooping all the available company on sight,
About Gloria filing for Congress? I am saddened. Some people just don’t know when to stop and let go.
December 2nd, 2009 00:26
Oh God no…
This tactless act of staying in power should not stand! If this ever happens there will be a massive destabilizing force in the government… mainly her! All the more reason to elect someone who’s platform is to prosecute her because there will be a reckoning, there has to be! Otherwise this will be a pattern/ a precedent for all administrations to come! Their own interpretation of the law, spitting on the constitution, twisting facts to suit their purposes, politicizing the military who despite saying they are not IS (dont kid yourself, anyone who has military contact knows!) and murdering outspoken civilians and journalists will be the norm!
This has to stop! It has gone to a point when the majority of the people were wishing PGMA and family were in the presidential helicopter that crashed recently. Will this be a tipping point? GMA will have to increase her security escorts because a lot of people will be after her blood! And if that happens and its succeeds, then the actual killers could be hailed as heroes?! Heroes!! That mentality is wrong because it will be condoning to murder but PGMA is so unpopular and so disliked… no a stronger term would be hated by almost everyone that It wouldn’t surprise me if it does happen and people would actually look at it positively… Aye Karma. Heck the killers could even run for the Senate afterwards and win landslide! *Wince*
She shouldn’t! This gives credence to the fact that she’s afraid… afraid of the things she has done. That the paper trail will all lead to her. And I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
December 2nd, 2009 02:27
For those who are apprehensive of what the Pampanguenos would decide on GMA’s candidacy, I have two words for you “Butt Out”.
If you fear that our decision would have an adverse effect to the whole Philippines, then, campaign in your own district, in your own province. Vote for you own representative who could match GMA, if you could find one. Or, are you afraid of your own shadows?
Dan
December 2nd, 2009 07:10
she is really one lucky bitch. she is callous and insensitive.
December 2nd, 2009 09:01
Dan raised a very good point.
Yes, I do think it is cheap and undignified for a president to run for a lower position in government. And yes, I do think that she has some kind of plan which will be harmful to the country overall.
But it is her right to run, and to hold office if elected. As Dan says, if we think that the Pampaguenos decision will have adverse effect on the whole country, then there is a way to limit her ability to do harm. We have the ability, if we choose to use it, to wisely elect other representatives who will not support her personal ambitions.
No matter how evil she may be, she cannot do anything without the support of her colleagues in congress.
We cannot control whether she gets elected as a representative from a particular district in a particular province. But we can control who we elect.
This is something Filipinos have never fully understood. No matter how corrupt the government officials may be, the truth is, the power of good governance is really in the hands of the citizens. If they want good governance, they have the power to demand it.
December 2nd, 2009 11:28
Linking the subject of this blog to the ‘Killing Fields of Maguindanao’, I think we should consider the degree of culpability for the massacre to those in the ’chain of command’ above Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr, for he could not possibly have done this alone. Obviously other senior Ampatuans were directly involved, and one assumes warrants will soon be served for their arrest.
However, as it is now apparent that police, including officers, CVOs and CAFGUs were involved in the actual abduction and killing as well as security guards employed by the Ampatuans, we need to question whether their superiors knew of their involvement?
Having trained for 45 days, CAFGUs are posted to CAFGU battalions, armed, usually with Armalite M 16s, and then deployed under operational command of ‘maneuver battalions’. Therefore, if CAFGUs were assigned to the Ampatuans, in support of their private Army, the local Mindanao-based AFP maneuver battalion CO and company commander must have sanctioned this, and all the generals in the AFP chain of command right up to the Commander-in-Chief and her Secretary of Defense should also have known about it. The battalion commander could not have detailed his men for this task without orders from his superiors. If it transpires that police, CVOs and CAFGUs took part in the massacre, then it would seem that security men employed by the government, using government weapons and ammunition supplied by the government, murdered 57 innocent civilians in cold blood in broad daylight. The President and her former defense Secretary need to explain why they allowed the Ampatuans to retain a private Army in Maguindanao, and why they permitted the police, CVOs and CAFGU to collude in this massacre.
Assuming that all the bullets have already been recovered from the bodies of the deceased, forensic experts should be able to match the bullets to specific guns, because every gun leaves a different ‘signature’ on the bullet as it travels up the gun barrel. It should therefore be possible to determine which gun killed each individual, assuming that the weapons are eventually recovered, if ever.
It was reported last week that, some time ago, after Vice-Mayor Mangudadatu first declared his intention to run for Governor against Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr, officials of LAKAS/KAMPI in Manila tried to talk him out of it, offering him other alternatives. I therefore wonder if this was part of a bigger conspiracy to eradicate the Mangudadatus, to preserve the Administration’s political bailiwick, at all costs? Could it explain why the Provincial bulldozer was used, apparently several days before the event, to dig a massive hole in the middle of nowhere -clearly it was premeditated? Could it help explain why a United Nations employee was murdered in Maguindanao two days later?
It surprises me that, even though the Administration was clearly implicated, Vice-Mayor Mangudadatu still filed his COC under the banner of LAKAS/KAMPI. Can he not connect the dots?
December 2nd, 2009 13:27
I like the term used by Manolo Quezon when Teodoro expelled the Ampatuans from Lakas like lightning and just as quickly dashed to the Mangadadatus because the clan was about to join the opposition.
So now the Mangadadatus were “roped in”, snared and in the Lakas/Kampi corral to ensure they don’t spill any beans about any Lakas/Kampi shenanigans in the past.
At the same time Gibo and party will still have a major victim family in the area as their candidate.
And talino. Ang galing. But comical.
December 2nd, 2009 13:40
The Mangudadatus were “roped” in. Very descriptive.

Priest likens Arroyo’s descent to Jesus Christ
http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20091202-239646/Priest-likens-Arroyos-descent-to-Jesus-Christ
What a bunch of m@derpacking F—!
There’s always this nagging feeling that any religious figure trying to steer the ship of state does so not by a moral compass but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a freshly butchered chicken.
But this just beyond preposterous.
Is this priest high? Drunk to the point of ethical stupor? Tripping on nine shots of acid? Riding on a ball high (google ‘teabagging’)? Or merely an opportunistic beneficiary of blessings from above (or below – gloria’s really small – both spiritually and morally)?
The vision of heaven populated with clergymen dumb (at best) or shamelessly corrupt enough to compare Gloria with Jesus only furthers the argument that there is a significant cognitive dissonance between religion and modern scientific and logical thought.
Pray. But always take into heart that since there is no god actually talking back to us, that void is filled with people - with their own corruptions, limitations, agendas and lies.
December 2nd, 2009 17:23
I caught up with Randy David being interviewed by Pia Hontiveros via a phone patch yesterday. David basically admitted he would lose to GMA had he decided to run against her—as we all know—because the election would have been “rigged.” When Pia suggested that had he run and lost, it would “legitimize” the election of GMA because David would have been a “formidable” opponent. David agreed. I almost puked! It’s like, if nobody runs against GMA, she would of course win, but it won’t be a “legitimate” win. David was still dreaming. I went to the bathroom and puked!
David is a writer—a concocter of ideas, if you will. He is not a doer. He can describe what’s cooking in the kitchen, detail the smell and the decorations, but he is not the one to go in the kitchen to cook because it is too damn hot! He will stay in the dining room instead, sit down, wait for the food, smell it, and describe it a little more. Can’t blame him actually; he is just following the old adage, “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.”
December 2nd, 2009 17:24
I agree with Dan and Michael. We could still cripple Gloria Arroyo and her minions’ plans for Congress. This could be done by not voting for the congressmen/women who were in favor of HR 1109 (Con-Ass). If each of us could just spread the word, we may have a stronger chance of not having this cunning b*tch as our first ever Prime Minister.
December 3rd, 2009 07:55
It is so sad the Arroyo has chosen to run for Congress. Everybody knows what her plan is. Seems the “Napoleon Syndrome” is not limited to men. It is so sad that Arroyo will use the power of her office to cast aside any legal protests and ensure her election bid and subsequent victory. But what’s really sad is…
The people in her district will vote for her!

Hmm…Noynoy Aquino as President and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as Speaker of the House.
One holds the Executive Power.
The other holds the power of impeachment.
Do you think Noynoy will be able to pursue the cases against Gloria?
December 3rd, 2009 13:11
The fate of the Nation lies in the hands of the voters of Pampanga.
Can you imagine that?
December 3rd, 2009 13:13
Ricky, I will just ask a permission to put a link of your site in my blog.
Thanks.
December 3rd, 2009 14:45
Go ahead Tito Boy. Looking forward to reading your posts.
December 3rd, 2009 15:51
GMA will only have the chance to become prime minister if she is able to be elected as congresswoman. Now, if so many filipinos are against this idea, the power to stop this lies in the hands of voters of the second district of Pampanga. If they do elect her, she will have to be speaker of the house. Her peers will have to elect her as such. We have the power to prevent this if we chose wisely whom we put in congress as our own district’s representative. In the end, the power is in our hands. If she does become prime minister in the end, we will have no one to blame but ourselves. we deserve the government we get because we put them there in the first place. so filipinos, use wisely your power of choice.
And Ricky, why do you assume that chances are Noynoy will win as president in a fair election? If Gibo or Gordon wins, do you mean to say that the election was not fair? As a journalist, you should keep to yourself your personal preference and stick to the facts in your reporting. Sayang ang talent mo if you stray.
December 3rd, 2009 17:01
@Albert P.
Arroyo staunch critics like Drilon will probably pursue first the cases against Gloria. I highly doubt Noynoy will initiate those.
Ricky, hi! I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while but it’s just now that I’ve posted comments. I’m a huge fan
December 3rd, 2009 18:02
Suzette,
I’m basing it on the surveys. Its a fact that he’s leading. Of course there’s still a chance Noynoy will lose but the surveys indicate (at least for now) that he will win.
December 3rd, 2009 22:21
Ricky,
Many expect GMA to be decent, I think we are asking her too much. Lets us remember the universal saying, you cant give what you donot have.
Pati Diyos at simbahan ginagamit!
December 10th, 2009 16:15
The latest Manila Bulletin survey for now has Teodoro leading with 40%, Aquino with 39%.
December 11th, 2009 17:30
So what now? Are you going to revise your article? Tsk tsk tsk. You should not have made the statement about Noynoy being the next president in a fair election if you’re only basing it on the surveys. Surveys change over time you know. In making that statement, you should have qualified it accordingly. That’s what a responsible journalist does.
December 25th, 2009 12:56
GMA is merely being herself-a greedy, restless soul. I wish she and her kind will find no peace in the coming year.
January 20th, 2010 19:12
I am one of your readers. Hindi na po kasi ako masyadong nagbo-blog kasi my blog is about faith kaya itinigil ko na po muna dahil nasa middle east ako at for my own safety.
But this one is very timely. Aside kay Ivler, Remonde at Kris and the Presidentiables, ang pinakhihintay ang pagtakbo ni PGMA sa Pampanga, kadistrict ko po siya. And this blog of my fellow Pampagueno speaks for myself, some or even more for us, the whole Pampanga. My battlefield is prayer and I believe that the Lord mandates all government officials including PGMA. How I pray that the Lord will open the eyes of all the Kapampangans including my district, PGMA’s district.
God bless po!

This kapampangan bog site says it all and I agree on his post.
Translation of the blog in Filipino:
Nakakahiya! Totoo man!
Bilang isang Pilipino… bilang isang Kapampangan.
Wala man daw siyang nilabag na batas.
Parang tama naman sila, no?
January 20th, 2010 20:50
I hope and I pray that we are not just few, but many to act on it, us Pampaguenos
God bless Pampanga and Philippines
