Arroyo’s Audacious Gambit?

Just finished talking to Randy David.
He reiterates he is willing to run for Congress in the 2nd district of Pampanga to try to stop Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from becoming a congressman.

Malacanang spokesman Lorelei Fajardo said this week that there is a clamor for Arroyo to run for Congress adding fuel to the talk that she would run in order to become speaker and maneuver a shift to a parliamentary form of government.
Randy’s thesis is a bit different. He says she will not necessarily try to change our form of government to parliamentary but working within the current form of government, dispense patronage to effectively control the House and possibly the Senate to hold the next president politically hostage. he says that if she succeeds, any attempt by the next president to make her accountable for her crimes or act against her interest would get him impeached.
It seemed a but hard to believe at first. That presumes that Arroyo has stashed away enough money to outbid the president and buy the votes of enough lawmakers to make them defy Malacanang. But David says she shouldn’t be underestimated.
Its audacious. Its out of the box. But its not impossible.
Arroyo has the guts, the savvy, and possibly the resources to make it happen.

Anything is possible with Gloria. To have a president friendly to her would be a bonus. Perhaps that is why she’s not so focused on who the next president would be. She could have stashed away enough funds to make sure the next congress would be under her control. I suppose that would explain our huge deficit.

To be obssesed with the actions of Gloria
Arroyo is a useless past time. We just be
vigilant that our faltering Democracy will
not be subverted again by any tyrant.

Randy should be vigilant if he is to run for Congress in Pampanga…for sure Arroyo and his son will make all things happen to ensure they win…

Filipinos should stay vigilant to guard democracy and if necessary, go and out and band together as People Power…

    Vigilance! Vigilance! Vigilance!

When one is desperately desperate, one is indeed forced to think out of the box. Gloria is one desperately desperate woman.

The world will snicker at this solution to save herself.

People shoud be able to put their money where their mouth is!

I can understand the emotionality of Prof. Randy. But to me, he appears to be more of a theorist rather than a doer. And, I think, he should study the principles of LEADERSHIP!

I quote below portions of the Inquirer article, Quote:
According to Villar, a former Speaker of the House and Senate President, the country’s next President should have run an office or an institution.

“How do you show the people that you have leadership, you must at least have been elected, once in your life … you must have been selected by your peers.
    Unquote.

I’m glad “The EQualizer” mentioned the name “Mahatma Ganhdi.”

I don’t think Villar (nor Prof. Randy) understands the TRUE principle of LEADERSHIP! Mahatma Ganhdi, having no position, nor title, and not having run a company, LED India, and its people, and brought down one of the most powerful empires in the world to its knees!!!

So friends, do take a good & careful look. Look at Villar, Chiz, Gibo… Look at the life of a plain housewife, who knew nothing and yet even in her grave, continues to practice LEADERSHIP!

To Prof. Randy, “JUST DO IT!”

P.S. Just ain’t sure if “THE GLORIA” is more powerful than the “THE BRITISH EMPIRE?”

More than anything else, Gloria’s gambit with getting elected to the Congress after her term ends is to foil any attempt to get her charged for crimes for her presidential actions and hence, avoid being sent to jail like her predecessor. The rest is pudding on the cake.

that’s why randy david may become the savior of the Filipino nation against the “dark side.” i’d like to be able to vote for him, but i’m not from pampanga. but i know someone who is, and may be able to help, among ed panlilio. randy shouldn’t waste time. he has to move now, without violating any election code. he should not waste time convincing the ‘dark side” to step down. she certainly won’t!

if la gloria runs for a seat in the lower house to represent her district, she will win. but if she succeeds to avoid actions against her because she is guilty of the crimes that she is being accused of, she may only delay the process. and even if she is able to avoid the bars in her lifetime, she can not avoid the wrath of God. i have said it and will say it again, we have to finally wake up and make sure that her cohorts no longer return to the lower house. even if she becomes a congresswoman, she will not have the numbers and she will suffer the way she made the opposition suffer. Prof. David is correct. We must make sure the lakas-kampi-npc lawmakers or their assigned candidates don’t make it in the next national and local elections.

    EQualizer,

i used to believe that too..but that woman just overthrows any sort of logic or moral paradigm.she does have the fìnances.even if she will just be a citizen or ‘just a congresswoman’ she has huge holdings and influence in petroleum, real estate, telecoms and others..slowly,cleverly accumulated in a period of 2 years and of course, unlisted and cleverly hidden too.she could buy off everyone..or the entire pampanga.randy david would be wasting his time..
    she’s scary..pang halloween costume.

MikeL, agree with you there. Lakas/ Kampi, NPC, NP candidates who win will sell their souls to the she-devil and ally with and protect her again if she gets elected into Congress.

So all these candidates must never get elected into Congress. Meantime, Randy carries on the one-on-one battle with the demon in his and her turf.

remember guys when pinoys in many segments, be it in congress or on street parliaments, did everything they can to force out the americans out of subic and clark? year-after-year, nothing happened!

until pinatubo stepped in! what nature can really do!

till the end of time, it’s a continuous battle between good and evil. sure hope we’re all clear where “the gloria” is classified under, don’t we?

nice to discuss these things, and we should continue to do so, but at the end, the question is who is really in control? we all know, don’t we?

Out of the box, but the chance of making it happen is nearing nil.

The more likely-to-happen-scenario is ’she would run in order to become speaker and maneuver a shift to a parliamentary form of government’ and she gets protection from allies for any attempts by her political enemies to ‘make her accountable for her crimes or act against her interest’.

Randy David may be taller than GMA, but he ain’t smarter than her.

As far as Allies are concerned, I doubt she will get any support at all from the US (should she choose to remain in power one way or the other)or other western powers. She is becoming a serious threat to western interests (big business) and any attempt to stay in power will not be tolerated… Well, that’s just my opinion.

Sige na nga, guys! Since this is also the period when all the scary movies are shown on tv, let’s take for granted what you guys are predicting, already happened! Reality na lahat!

So, Prime Minister Gloria na siya! Then she’ll have a solid support from all her partymates and be able to pass laws favoring her and her cronies! She will also start buying shares & start to own the likes of San Miguel Corp, ABS-CBN, MERALCO, BPI, Metro Bank, BDO, PLDT, SM, SMART, GLOBE, St. Lukes Hospital, atbp. Of course magiging dummy na niya sila MVP, Ayala, Ty, Yuchengko, Lopez, Sy, atbp.

Sa palagay ninyo she’ll live happily ever after? Problema lang guys, history has it, may mga lumalabas na “HUDAS!” Di ba si Hitler kamontik na! Hindi kaya siya eventually matimbog? At perhaps ipako sa…

    Happy Haloween Guys!!!

Waiver: The foregoing scenario is a fiction story. All names mentioned are also fictitious and any similarity to any person dead or alive is purely coincidental!

Parties who has 1 but not 2, 2 but not 1 is our disadvantage if we vote for them, here is why 2 parties in 1 = more money from tax payers and inefficient government services because the party increase the members in number after election, decision making is slow because of the political environment…be smart, iboto mo, isang partido, isang prinsipyo.

    Ricky,
I don’t know which is the more audacious move: GMA’s purported run for Congress or Prof. David’s dare to face La Gloria. I hope the professor has a ton of money to sway Lubao voters to his camp, and to battle the rich and wily daughter of the poor boy from Lubao.

David vows to block Arroyo as PM
    ________________________________________
by Billy Ramos, ANC | 06/30/2009 1:22 PM

MANILA - He is the David against President Arroyo’s Goliath.

After rejecting the idea of running for public office in the past, UP professor and columnist Randy David has decided he will run against President Arroyo now that the chief executive is looking to extend her term beyond 2010.
“It’s really a cynical move on her part. I don’t think she’s interested really in just representing the second district of Pampanga. She wants the prime ministership under a different system of government, a parliamentary system, and thus become head of state. That is a door they’re trying to open, and I’m determined to close that door,” David says in an interview by Ricky Carandang on ANC’s The Big Picture.

David believes Arroyo’s attempts at getting another term is not just to cling to power but to survive.
“I dont think that she’s going to be allowed to retire in peace….It is a survival, it is a necessity on her part and her family’s part,” he says.

David says charter change is taking too long, and Mrs. Arroyo cannot really depend on her allies in the House of Representatives to stay on her side. “The thing with the congressmen who are presently allied with Mrs. Arroyo is that their loyalty is not of a personal nature. It is of a transactional nature. So when they see that the master is unable to exercise enough powers, these people will waiver in their commitment because it is really not a commitment,” he says.
    Martial law again?

David is not sure there will be elections next year, but he says Arroyo could use the current tense political situation, an ongoing insurgency, and an economic crisis to her advantage, much like what the former dictator Ferdinand Marcos did in 1972 when he declared martial rule.

“The situation that we face is very fluid at this point…The possibility of charter change occurring before the 2010 elections is becoming more and more remote, definitely. But they can still do it under an emergency situation,” he says. “An emergency situation can arise. If it doesn’t arise, it can be fabricated. That’s exactly what Marcos did.”
The only way to stop this, David says, is to stand up and challenge the administration.
“You’ve got to stand up and challenge her.
“You cannot sit down and watch. It’s probably a foolish thing. But you know, I’ve always believed, Ricky, that social movements have their own life. You cannot actually plot them, you cannot manufacture them. they are self creating. So I thought it was going to be a lonely crusade. But it’s not lonely at all. It’s not lonely, I mean, maski na yung motocyclists lamang who are writing me and saying we’re with you,” he says.
Malacañang has welcomed David’s intention to run against President Arroyo in Pampanga, saying he could be a worthy opponent.
But Palace officials say Mrs. Arroyo has an edge over her would-be rivals in the province, where she says she remains popular.

Prof. Randy David should run for the congressional seat regardless of GMA running. We need more progressive congressmen to up the ante and force the traditional politicians in the legislature to do a better job.

If and when the Philippine Congress with all the hacks inside it will undoubtedly feel the pressure when intellectual giants like Randy David cross their paths.
